Photograph captured on August 3, 2024 - Newport, Rhode Island
On August 3, 2024, my wife and I were enjoying an afternoon of polo at the Newport Polo Grounds in Newport, Rhode Island. The day was almost perfect with warm temperatures and brief periods of light rain. During a momentary break in the gloomy skies, a bright sun peeked through the clouds causing me to look up. The cloud shapes and accompanying rainbow effect struck me as extremely unusual so the photographer in me quickly snapped a photo with my iPhone before the cloud formations shifted.
In that photograph, I captured two incredible phenomena, the magic of science and the magic of prophecy. Regarding science, I photographed a beautiful rainbow cloud which is an extremely rare occurrence of small droplets of water scattering the sun’s light in colorful bursts. Regarding prophecy, I photographed one of those “that’s a dead ringer for….” cloud formations that any good photographer will tell you is like taking a photo of a glimpse of someone’s imagination or capturing a mythical image that is there for a moment and then gone forever.
This photograph captures the mythical silhouette of President Donald Trump’s distinctive profile along with a burst of color from the rainbow cloud. Together, these images beautifully project a clear sense of the message that President Trump was conveying during this time in his campaign, just weeks after the assassination attempt on his life in Butler, PA….. the message of hope and faith that there are great things to come for our nation and, as he would say, what a beautiful thing that will be.
There are three versions of the photograph, and I used the iPhone photo enhancer to adjust the general brightness and color of the otherwise unedited photo. Each of the three brightness and color variations portray President Trump’s optimistic vision of the great days to come with his triumphant return to the presidency.
